วันหนึ่ง ณ ริมฝั่งของแม่น้ำที่ไหลเชี่ยว ชายชนบทคนหนึ่งได้ยืนรอเพื่อที่จะข้ามไปยังอีกฝั่งของแม่น้ำ เขาพยายามดูว่า บริเวณใดน้ำตื่นที่สุด จึงจะข้ามแม่น้ำไปได้

One day, at the edge of a rapid river, a male villager stood waiting to cross, He trying to watch where is the shallowest water to cross the river.

เมื่อเวลาผ่านไปครู่หนึ่ง เขาตัดสินใจนั่งลงแล้วใช้สมาธิคิดอย่างรอบคอบ และทันใดนั้นเองเขาก็จำได้ว่า “ตำแหน่งที่น้ำไหลเงียบที่สุด คือจุดที่น้ำลึกที่สุด แต่ตำแหน่งที่น้ำไหลเสียงดังที่สุด คือจุดที่น้ำตื้นที่สุด” เมื่อคิดได้แล้วจึงเลือกข้ามตรงตำแหน่งที่น้ำไหลเชี่ยวเสียงดังที่สุดและข้ามไปได้อย่างปลอดภัย

After a while, the villager decided to sit down and concentrate, and after a short while he remembered, “The quietest place in a river is where the water runs deepest, but the noisiest place in the river is where the water runs shallowest.” When he came to this realization, he chose the loudest point of the river, and crossed safely.
